Pioneer Plaque for James and Elsie Hudson

This commemorative plaque is one of a number of plaques that record the contribution made by  some of the early residents of Boulder. It is located in the pavement on the southern side of Burt Street, Boulder, near the intersection with Lane Street.

90th Birthday Celebration for Gwen Hudson/Godley

Descendants of James Hudson, together with other Hudson and Godley relatives and friends, gathered at the home of Denis and Pauline Godley on 06 April 2008 to celebrate the 90th birthday of Gwen Hudson/Godley. Gwen is pictured with two of her younger relatives, and is displaying the "key to the door" she received in recognition of reaching this milestone.

Death of Edna May Cocks/Hudson

Edna May "Wiggs" Cocks married William Vernon (Vern) Hudson in Kalgoorlie in 1937. At the time of her death, at age 94 years, she and Vern had fifteen descendants, comprising three children (Brian, Robin and Ross), five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren (for details see the table of descendants, below).

Vern, who died in 1987, was an important contributor to the information on the Hudson family presented on this website, and Wiggs was always welcoming and supportive during my numerous visits to their home. In particular, Vern collected and compiled detailed information on the descendants of his parents James Hudson and Elsie May Hardeman, and was a great enthusiast for all things relating to the Hudson family

A feature of their home was the prominent name plaque "Sunny Brow", which was based on the farm "Sunny Brow" near Clunes, Victoria where Vern's father James Hudson was born in 1878. On a wall inside their home hung a painting of "Tillshole" farm, Longsleddale, in the English Lake District, which was where his grandfather William Hudson (1827-1908) was born. William Hudson lived in the district surrounding Tillshole until he emigrated to Australia, arriving in Victoria in 1862.
